Space To Fly
A new collaboration with Upswing, Space To Fly is imagined as a large-scale spectacle, combining circus with theatre & augmented reality that shines a light on modern human spaceflight.
Commissioned by Without Walls through their Blueprint R&D scheme
Our first collaboration with the brilliant Upswing (one of the UK’s leading outdoor theatre and circus makers) Space to Fly looks beyond the well-trodden Moon Landings and ‘Race for Space’ narratives to uncover the hidden stories and experiences of women and people of colour who are increasingly our human representatives in space.
R&D begins in September 2021 with full production slated for summer 2023.

Led by our artistic director Jon Spooner in partnership with Upswing’s artistic Director Vicki Amedume we will also be working with poet and ‘Quantum Creative’ Oneness Sankara as writer on the project; and projection and video designer Nina Dunn and Dr Tom Flint of Edinburgh Napier University to explore how we integrate an Augmented Reality experience with the live event.
