Jamie Fletcher
Core Artist

Jamie Fletcher is a director and musician specialising in musical theatre, multi-disciplinary performance, comedy, adaptations and work with socio-political themes. Her identity as a northern, neurodivergent, queer, trans woman informs the work that she makes. Jamie is deeply passionate about directing, collaboration and telling diverse stories on the stage and screen as well as finding new creative ways to tell these.
Jamie has worked in the industry for over seventeen years, including as a Core Artist with Unlimited Theatre (2021-2023), as Associate Director on the musical Wizard of Oz at Leeds Playhouse (2019-2020), as Co-Artistic Director of Sometimes We Play (2008-2015) and as a Method Lab commissioned artist at Greenroom Manchester (2006-2007).
Her directing highlights include the Fringe First award-winning Happy Meal by Tabby Lamb (Brixton House 2023, Sydney Festival and Perth Festival 2023, Traverse Theatre and UK Tour 2022) and the critically acclaimed UK revival of Hedwig and the Angry Inch by John Cameron Mitchell and Stephen Trask (Leeds Playhouse and HOME, 2022).
Jamie also has directed for screen including Gratify (Divina De Campo/PEG official music video, 2020), Watch Me Exist (by My Genderation, 2019), Queer as in Queer (film commissioned by Leeds Gallery and Museums, 2015) and Alphabet Club (short film, 2014).
Previously Jamie worked as a session musician on hit television show Stars in their Eyes (2005), played with different bands and collaborated with a range of artists. She has composed music for dance and theatre productions including Dead of Night by Imprint Theatre (2007), Leonard’s Bones by Pointed Arrow Performance (2008), How to Occupy An Oil Rig by Daniel Bye (2013), We Can Be Heroes by Dick Bonham (2015) and Dancing Bear by Beccy Owen (2018).
