Jamie is a director and musician, who has worked in the industry for over 15 years. She is the Artistic Director of Jamie Fletcher & Company, specialising in multi-disciplinary performance, musical theatre and work with socio-political themes. Theatre directing highlights include queer musical Dancing Bear (Leeds Playhouse, Contact and Palace Theatre) and We Will Have Guns by Jo Clifford (part of Five Plays at Young Vic). Film directing work includes the official music video for Gratify by Divina De Campo, Alphabet Club and Queer as in Queer, commissioned by Leeds Museums & Galleries. Jamie was also associate director on the classic musical Wizard of Oz at Leeds Playhouse.
Prior to establishing her own production company in 2014, she was co-founder and co-Artistic Director of Sometimes We Play, creating street performances, sound installations and touring studio theatre works. She was also co-Director and performer for Pointed Arrow Performance, making site-specific performances and work for non-theatre spaces. She has extensive experience leading workshops and youth/community theatre.
As a Core Artist with Unlimited, Jamie will be producing a trans wrestling musical, celebrating trans people in sport, whilst examining why being inclusive of trans athletes is still such a contentious issue. Through the support and knowledge of the Unlimited team and her fellow Core Artists, she is excited to learn more about running a successful and sustainable production company. She is particularly interested in how to take an idea from inception and development to a successful mid-large scale touring show. From this mentorship and guidance, her own creative practice will evolve, helping her to grow as an artistic director and reach the next stage of her career.
